| Beyonce or Ashanti.........you decide | ||
Well I hope most of you in the UK got to see the Soul Nation series on Channel 4. Yes, it was a very London centric take on the scene but I make no apologies for that, as that's where I was born and raised and it was clearly the most influential city in the UK for Black music. We got several front covers in the press and some great reviews though I apparently upset one or two annoraks from up north. You know the type of guy who still thinks Sam Cooke is alive.At this moment in time it seems as though the Lick show as we know and love it on MTV Base may never re-appear in its original format. If you are a regular viewer you will have noticed my abscence from your screens of late. I feel that I will be appearing on MTV Base but it's not certain what time, day or in what capacity, basically we are trying to sort it out..............how vague can I be! This past month has been all about Ashanti and Beyonce on promotional visits to the UK. Both have got new albums worth checking out. Lucky me got a chance to hook up with the R&B Babes, check the new shots. Its the summer season for gigs but what's happening to our beloved Ayia Napa. No Radio1, no MTV Base everyone's chipped and gone. But I will still be doing Club Ice on Tuesday 15th july just to test the water with a couple of extra dates scheduled for later this summer. Pacha is the location of my first gig ever in Ibiza the dance capital of the world, which is slowly opening its doors to urban music. I promise to bring all my pics back and my verdict. If you have joined the membership then you could win tickets to a radio 1 carnival party in London, a special members party for Rare or a free copy of my soul nation album. Keep loggin on Peace |
