2003! What a start!...

Ok folks, where to begin well I start with the Mobos. If I’m honest I wasn’t really that impressed with them nothing really blew me away. It is difficult for me to be truly objective about them as I’ve taken part in them in the past but they don’t seem to be getting tremendously better.
I do believe they should have at least 1 UK presenter, give someone new the chance; it just seems to have an identity crisis at the moment. That’s not to say that I’m taking anything away from anyone who picked up an award but I think Dizzie Rascal getting a Mercury Music Award seems far more significant at the moment than any prize given out at Mobo. Lets just hope it gets better for next year.

Just come from doing 50 Cent and the G-Unit boys down at MTV, absolute madness. I mean the hype is ridiculous, police everywhere even a snipper on the roof in case of trouble.

On the filming tip I just wrapped up my last 2 shows for BBC1’s Holiday You Call the Shots in Paris and Vienna. I was trying to pretend that I was truly cultured, hopefully I pulled it off! Although I don’t do anything really young and funky on these shows I do have a laugh. Lots of young Parisians begging me to come over and do a party and good news it looks like it might happen. I’m hopefully going to do a live radio1 show from Paris for Valentines Day next year so watch this space.

Lowdown filming continues, as I write this I’m back in Paris on my way to hang out with So Solid who are amazingly tour support for Christina Aguilera on the leg of her European tour, which totally baffles me as I don’t really get the synergy between the 2 acts. And who would have thought that you’d have to go to Paris to see the south London band perform, as I believe they’re still banned in the UK.
On the first show I catch up with Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey and Kelis. Out to dinner with Kelis we talk about music, her engagement to Nas and is obviously extremely excited about planning her wedding. Her new single Milkshake is an acquired taste looking forward to hearing more material from her. I spent the afternoon with Alicia in a penthouse talking about her new album which is incredible, very soulful, very old skool – I really believe she will blow everyone away again with this album. And lastly but by no means least Mariah. I watched her show in Manchester (NY) then flew back to NYC on her private jet. Bless her she is quite literally in the clouds, 100% diva but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This week I’ll heading of to Miami to chat to the Neptunes around the Source Awards, that I’m really looking forward to.

Filming this show I have to admit is very hard work the schedules are so hectic I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. Some mornings I wake up and I’ve just got no idea where I am, mentally I’m just all over the shop.

But as they say the show must go on.
Peace, till next time.
