| New Years Eve | ||
I’ve just wrapped up filming the Lowdown series and what a run of shows it has been. Congrats go out to the winners of the Urban music prize, ‘Q’Ville and Adele. Good luck to them both.The final shows featured Nelly Furtardo, Rio Ferdinand, Ms. Dynamite and the original Mr. Dynamite the one and only Mr. James Brown. What an incredible experience it was to meet the great man and interview him as well as bring him on stage for a special one off performance for the BBC………just awesome. I still managed to get a few gigs in round the UK. Thanks to everyone for coming out and making those gigs exciting for me. Special mention to Liverpool and East Anglia Uni’s where I played for the first time and also a shout out to 2 of the more intimate gigs I play at Level in Bristol and Worldheadquaters in Newcastle. Aside from all the partying I took time out to visit our Prime Minister, Tony Blair at 10 Downing street, who confessed to me that he has just got a copy of the Darkness album. Although I’m still trying to convince him that Outkast is the future. Seriously though my trip to No.10 was about a new initiative called “The Big Conversation” where young people raise issues concerning them and put them to the Prime Minister. I was invited along to chair the discussion and the group in question raised some very good points. The biggest party night of the year is impending once again and by now everyone should know that my run at Ministry of Sound has come to an end. After the 3 tremendous years that we’ve had, MOS are no longer doing the Dome so they’re back in their own venue, which gave me the opportunity to throw 2 big parties up North this year. The Dome in Birmingham where I’ll be bringing in the New Year, then whizzing up the motorway to join DJ Dodge and Spoony in Nottingham at Club Isis where I’ll be celebrating for the rest of the night. They should be 2 unmissable parties, book your hotel rooms and tickets ASAP (info on both parties on the events page) – you don’t want to miss out. See you on the other side…… |
