2003! What a start!...

After a quiet start to the year (apart from that Janet Jackson / Justin fiasco) things finally started to heat up. By the way has everyone forgotten that Janet has a single to promote and is starting to feel left behind the likes of Madonna, Christina and Britney in the publicity stakes.

Beyonce cleaned up at the Grammy’s equalling Alicia and Lauryn’s haul of 5, though she claims it’s just the beginning as she wants to make even more history. Jay Z better be prepared to follow his future wife all over the world for the next 5 years if he wants any sort of relationship.
I will be doing my utmost to catch at least one leg of the “ladies first tour”. Beyonce, Alicia and Missy will tour stateside through March/April, as usual don’t hold your breath expecting it to reach Europe, I have asked Missy already. No chance apparently!

One event that could eclipse them all is the imminent Princes Trust Urban Festival at Earls Court may 8th-9th. A two-day event headlined by Jay Z plus some A-list urban artists from both sides of the pond. There has been talk of this sort of thing before but for various reasons its never got off the ground until now. Check the radio1 website for the latest updates.
Russell Simmons is lined up to be the US ambassador with myself being the UK rep and main presenter of the event. At this time the complete line-up is unconfirmed but I will drop the list in the next column. All proceeds will go to the Princes Trust with the show getting coverage on radio1, MTV, 1Xtra, and channel 4.

Valentines day fell on a Saturday so I took the RnB chart show along with 3 couples to Paris for a very romantic broadcast from a beautiful club called Nirvana, where Brit winner Lemar serenaded them. Cheesy I know but it was quality cheddar.
Gotta holla my boy James Forsyth and my girl Cassandra Scarborough who invited me to speak at the oxford union address, a really enjoyable evening despite the near scrap I had with a drunk student in the bar after. I was totally honoured as Clint Eastwood had done it recently and Paul Smith was due the following day.

Finally you may have seen me plastered all over Burtons as part of their “Best of British’ campaign and no modelling is not gonna be my new thing, all pisstakers step up.
Later.
