| A change is gonna come | ||
The summer season is finally in full swing and there have been some major changes to my diary this year. The biggest of these is the radio 1 shake-up, which kind of happens every couple of years. Djs shows get lengthened, shortened, moved or in the worst cases sacked. When I joined the nations favourite in 1996 I hoped for a run of five years so I am happy to represent rnb for another 2 years at least after signing my new contract Both of my shows will be getting complete makeovers. Saturday’s show will bean hour longer and will no longer be a chart format. It will of course still be the only daytime specialist show on radio 1, with hot interviews, gossip, competitions, mixes and my own buzz style mini chart. I am very excited about this new show as I believe the old style chart show has kinda run its course, especially now that other radio stations have adopted similar charts and are helping to over saturate mainstream rnb. Sunday night’s rhythm nation is swapping places with Giles Peterson’s worldwide show, which means that I will no longer be the voice that brings the weekend to a close. I will host a new 2-hour cutting edge soulful show concentrating more on the underground side of the scene. It will be broadcast at 1am on Wednesdays so many of you may wanna use radio 1's listen again feature on the website to access that show. We are now a few weeks into the Ibiza season and I am really enjoying my residency at Pacha in the global room. While Darren Emerson and Tim Deluxe sort out the dance fans Nigel G and myself have been having fun playing a mad mix of hip hop rnb old skool and even disco. The room is brilliant and I would recommend you checking it out if you are heading to Ibiza this summer. PS on August 3rd will be the first rnb dj in the clubs history to do a set in the main room. I am throwing two rhythm nation parties at club ice in Ayia Napa this summer on July 4th and 18th, continuing a 3 year tradition of the best parties on the island, its definitely not all over yet. Finally after making a successful comeback, the lick show takes a little break in July, our last show was filmed at euro 2004(England v France), and we will be back with more fresh to death programs in august. NEW SHOW TIMES ON RADIO 1 FROM AUGUST SAT 4PM -7PM WEDS 1AM-3 |
